First, a consultant will meet with you or fill out a brief evaluation over the phone. They will discuss what changes are going on in your life and determine what type of Assisted Living Facility will meet your needs. They will then assess what you are able to do independently and will be able determine if you are able to meet the requirements for an Assisted Living Facility. In the event that you do not meet the requirements, we will take the time to discuss further options.

Second, we will discuss your finances to help fit you with the appropriate facility that fits your budget. We wil also discuss financial resources that can save you money if you qualify.

Third, we will talk about the area you were most interested in living. Together we will choose 3-4 facilities to tour. We will schedule a tour and drive you to see the options we have chosen.

After you have had a chance to discuss the options we have shown you we can help with the medical paperwork to help facilitate your move.
Senior Living Consultants will also provide excellent referrals for: In-Home Care Agencies, Moving companies, Elder law Attorneys, Estate Planners, Veteran's Assistance, and Skilled Nursing Homes.

Charmaine Petersen, CSA Certified Senior Advisor

Charmaine Petersen is a Placement Representative for Senior Living Consultants and a California native. She and her husband have been married for 30 years and have three wonderful children. She's been active on the Central Coast Community for ten years, by becoming very involved with her church. At the end of the day, Charmaine looks forward to long walks on the beach with her beagle.

As a result of her experience of placing her Father in assisted living care, she realized there was a great need for a personalized consulting service that would eliminate the confusion and the worry of finding the right placement for a loved one. She felt so strongly about this, that she left a successful career in advertising to devote her full time attention to helping people with this complicated and demanding decision.

In 2007 Charmaine, had the opportunity to further her education in Senior Health Care by obtaining her Certified Senior Advisor Credentials. Her continuing education helps to keep her informed on the ever changing needs of our beloved seniors with better understanding of Alzheimer's, Dementia, Social, and Financial needs of Seniors.

Peggy Renker

Peggy Renker is a Placement Representative for Senior Living Consultants. Peggy, a twenty year resident of Santa Barbara, was born and raised in Harbor Springs, Michigan and is the youngest of nine children.

Peggy received her BA in Sociology from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1986. She has spent the majority of her career in the hotel/resort industry in a group sales capacity representing hotels such as La Quinta Golf and Tennis Resort in La Quinta, California to the Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara.

In the Fall of 2003, Peggy made the decision to pursue her interest in caring for senior citizens and began working for Senior Living Consultants. After volunteering for Meals on Wheels and other senior related activities over the past fifteen years, Peggy enjoys the opportunity to work with seniors and their families on a regular basis.

Peggy currently serves as a committee chair for the Santa Barbara Association of Healthcare Providers, as well as an active volunteer with Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care.

Ron Skinner

Ron Skinner grew up in the central valley taking advantage of all the great things the Valley has to offer. After High School he moved to Phoenix, AZ to attend college, where he started his family. Shortly after graduation he returned to California, and moved around quite a bit to find the perfect place to raise his children. Ron ultimately landed on the central coast. He spent the last 15 years enjoying the beauty of the coast, but decided to return to the Central Valley to pursue a career helping our senior population.

He has two wonderful sons, both attending colleges in the Fresno area. He has a diverse background working mostly in customer service and retail management. He was introduced to the many needs of senior citizens while working with the Transportation department, driving and setting appointments with the senior and disabled bus services. He witnessed firsthand how living without proper care can be detrimental to a senior's health.
